Award-winning Blues Artist Rob Lumbard Performs at Spectacular


      Blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Rob Lumbard will be debuting at the Star Spangled Spectacular in Storm Lake at the Sunset Park Bandshell Wednesday, July 3 with a performance at 6:45 p.m. He will also entertain blues fans Thursday, July 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Chautauqua Park.

      The Des Moines native said he received his musical education in the barrooms of Forrest Avenue, sitting in with the likes of Rose Marie Webster, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee and Luther Allison.

            Lumbard has played guitar for The CJC Big Band, The Party Gras Classic Jazz Band and The NOLA trad Jazz band. He can be heard on KUNI, KFMG and blues programs around the nation and Europe. His music has appeared in several public television projects, which have received EMMY and other awards.

            Lumbard has opened for Lyle Lovett, The Band, John Hiatt, The Austin Lounge Lizards, Leon Redbone and dozens of blues acts.

            His 2015 release, “Blues in a Bottle,” won The International Blues Foundation’s 2016 Best Self-Produced CD award.

            Lumbard has guest lectured at Drake University and Buena Vista University on Piedmont style blues. His website is www.roblumbard.com.
